- There is an applikation called xwindemo, it is a X-Server for Windows using
- Trumpet winsock (also known as Micro X X-Server demo). You should use archie with
- "xwindemo" to find it on a FTP-site nearby.
-
- (Yesterday I've heard of a XServer for DOS (not using winsocks but maybe faster?)
- called X Appeal, but I don't know where to find)
-
- Hope it helps

-
- I had this problem happen a few weeks back on my bosses computer. The wisdom
- of alt.winsock was #1 The host mode of PC-Anywhere steals buffers -- In his
- case it was always down to 4 and sometimes none. #2 It is also caused by low
- DOS memory. In my bosses case, some of our network folks had "optimized his
- memory" down to less then 500K by installing ODI drivers instead of the packet
- drivers he had been living with. Temporary Solution: Unload PC-Anywhere host
- mode and I finetuned his config.sys and autoexec to make more DOS memory
- available. Real Solution: Since it was the boss, and since he was due for an
- upgrade anyway, we bought him a DX2-66 and the problem went away.
-
- I love it when problems go away, even if I don't quite understand why :->
-
- Good Luck,
-
- Tom
